Greenwich Car Key Replacement
Even if it’s not an emergency, there are numerous reasons why you might want to get a replacement car key cut. Perhaps the spare has gone missing or your key is simply wearing out or gets bent accidentally. Whatever the reason, we’ll be happy to provide you with a new or duplicate key AND program it/them to your vehicle and immobiliser at the same time – We provide car key cutting at a price that’s both cheaper and quicker than your local Greenwich main dealer.
Car Opening Anywhere in Greenwich
We have all the necessary tools to provide a fast, damage-free car entry service in Greenwich. It’s a common problem to either lose your keys or accidentally lock them in your car. We won’t damage or cause any signs of forced entry when opening car doors as our skilled team have professional tools and are experts at car lock picking. Although most cars can be opened within seconds, others can take a bit longer. Either way, we’ll have you back on the road in no time, and at a cheaper price than you’d likely have to pay if you visited your main dealer in Greenwich.
Car Key Programming for Greenwich Drivers
Keys 4 Cars Ltd. provide a quick and easy mobile car key programming service. We can either visit you at home or you can come to our Gravesend workshop if you prefer.
Most car keys have an integrated transponder chip that’s used to deactivate the immobiliser which means the key will need to be programmed to the car. Don’t worry, we’ve got all the equipment necessary to program virtually any car key ( although a tiny percentage may still need coding by your main dealer). Just let us know the make and model and we’ll tell you if we can help. We usually like to supply a new key with programming as it allows us to make sure the correct transponder chip and key are used.
Greenwich Car Key Repairs
With age, keys can become worn and snap off in locks, causing an unexpected headache. If this happens to you, don’t panic! We can refurbish, repair or replace keys that have problems AND save you money over a full key replacement. Similarly, if your key has lost its sharp grooves and you’re struggling to open your door or turn the ignition barrel, let us take care of it before it stops working altogether or snaps off in the barrel. Make sure you keep our number handy if this ever happens to you and you find yourself stranded in Greenwich.
Car Lock Repairs
Although it’s mainly the key that gets damaged, occasionally the lock itself might be the problem. If the door lock or ignition barrel becomes worn or is damaged, it can cause the key to get stuck. If this happens to you we can visit you in Greenwich to repair or replace either the door lock or ignition barrel.
The majority of car locks are made up of between 6-10 wafers. All it takes is for 1 of the wafers to become worn for the key to be unable to meet the wafer, meaning an issue will eventually develop with locking, unlocking or starting your car. We know all the tricks of the trade to remove, replace and/or repair the necessary parts without any damage to your car.

Did you know?
There’s no doubt that the reason Greenwich has such a rich maritime and naval history is largely due to its strategic location on the banks of the River Thames. For the history buffs amongst you, Greenwich gets its first mentioned in an old Saxon charter, but it was then known as ‘Gronewic’. This name didn’t stay like this for too long though and the name changed several times over the following years and it appears as Grenviz in the Domesday Book of 1086. Roughly translated, the word “Greenwich” basically means ‘green settlement’ and there’s evidence of the area being occupied by Bronze Age man as well as there also being an abundance of evidence that the Romans were very active in Greenwich, mainly due to it being en route from Dover to London.
As most already know, Greenwich has a strong royal connection, with Henry VII and Elizabeth I both being born there. Even today, Greenwich is quite literally world-famous for being the home of ‘Greenwich Mean Time’ (GMT) and the lesser-known ‘Coordinated Universal Time’ (UTC), which is the world standard time zone recognised across the planet
Of course, Greenwich also has strong astronomical ties and is the location of the Greenwich Royal Observatory, which also houses the well-known atomic clock at the Meridian Line. Greenwich is considered to be of such importance that it was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997due to its stunning architecture and illustrious heritage.
Amongst other things, tourists who visit Greenwich flock to see the Cutty Sark which is an old tea clipper that was built up in Scotland in 1869. The clipper has had a chequered history right up until 1954, when the ship was no longer of any use, which led to it ending up in dry dock in Greenwich where it remains to this day. As one of Greenwich’s best attractions, you can still climb on board and soak up the sights and smells and reminisce about the ship’s heyday.
