Services provided in Tunbridge Wells
Car Key Replacement / Key Cutting
There are numerous reasons why you might want to get a replacement car key cut. Perhaps your spare key has gone missing. It may be simply wearing out or has bent accidentally. Whatever the reason, we’ll be happy to cut you a new or duplicate key AND program it/them to your vehicle and immobiliser at the same time – cutting you a key at a price that’ll be much cheaper than your main dealer. We also provide 24-hour emergency car key replacement if your key is lost, damaged or locked in your vehicle.
Car Key Programming
Keys 4 Cars Ltd. provide a quick and easy mobile car key programming service. One of our locksmiths can either visit you at home or you can come to our Kent workshop if you prefer.
Most car keys have an integrated transponder chip that’s used to deactivate the immobiliser. This means the key will need to be programmed to the car. Don’t worry, we’ve got all the equipment necessary to program virtually any car key (although a tiny percentage may still need coding by your main dealer). Just let us know the make and model and we’ll tell you if we can help. We usually like to supply a new key with programming as it allows us to make sure the correct transponder chip and key are used.
Car Key Repairs
With age, keys can become worn and snap off in locks, causing an unexpected headache. If this happens to you, don’t panic! We can refurbish, repair or replace keys that have problems AND save you money over a full key replacement. Similarly, if your key has lost its sharp grooves and you’re struggling to open your door or turn the ignition barrel, let us take care of it before it stops working altogether or snaps off in the barrel. Make sure you keep our number handy if this ever happens to you and you find yourself stranded somewhere.
Vehicle Lock Repairs
Although it’s mainly the key that gets damaged, occasionally it can be the lock instead. If the lock or ignition barrel becomes worn or damaged, it can also cause the key to get stuck. If this happens, we'll come to you and repair or replace either the vehicle's door lock or ignition barrel of your vehicle.
Between 6-10 wafers make up the majority of automobile locks. All it takes is for 1 of the wafers to become worn for the key to be unable to meet the wafer, meaning an issue will eventually develop with locking, unlocking or starting your car. We know all the tricks of the trade to remove, replace and/or repair the necessary parts without any damage to your automobile.
Locksmithing - Vehicle Opening
We're locksmithing experts and have all the necessary tools to provide a fast, damage-free car entry service to your vehicle. It’s a common problem to either lose your keys or accidentally lock them in your car or van. We won’t damage or cause any signs of forced entry when opening car doors as our skilled team have professional tools and are experts at car lock picking. We can open most cars within seconds; others can take a bit longer. Either way, we’ll have you back on the road in no time, and at a cheaper price than you’d likely have to pay if you visited your main dealer.
Emergency 24/7 Mobile Auto Locksmith
Sometimes you can lose your keys or they become damaged. You may have even locked them in your car. Our 24-hour emergency automotive locksmith will cut you a replacement key on the spot if it’s an emergency and you need a replacement car key fast. Did you know?
In 1895, Tunbridge Wells was actually the location of Britain’s first-ever motor show.. sort of. It was called the ‘Horseless Carriage Exhibition’ and was located at Showfields. Obviously, back then, cars weren’t affordable to the masses. However, the show boasted did have 3 vehicles with the well-known Daimler engine in them, together with a Gladiator (which was a tricycle and 2 De Dion Boutons. and three vehicles using Daimler engines. The 4 that appeared went on the short journey to Tunbridge Wells town centre, which must have been a strange sight to see in those days!
